Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Pair Of Still Lifes Of Roses, Amenones, Tulips And Other Flowers In Bronze Urns, Resting On Stone Ledges by The Pseudo-Guardi was auctioned at Sothebys in London in October 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 9,375.00 (€ 13,113.28). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by The Pseudo-Guardi - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Tulips, roses, morning glory and other flowers in a stone vase with narcissi growing beside; and Tulips, carnations and other flowers in an urn, with flowers in a glass vase and wild flowers on a stone, which sold at auction in December 2008 for GBP 37,250.00 (€ 39,123.34).
