Despite a disappointment, a good price for Thaddeus Welch
When the work Cattle Watering Under An Oak Tree by Thaddeus Welch was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 13,750.00 (€ 11,160.71). Despite this disappointing result, Cattle Watering Under An Oak Tree is the most expensive artwork by Thaddeus Welch that we have observed at auction so far.
