Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Evening Grosbeaks Set Record by Suzy Frelinghuysen was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 23,750.00 (€ 21,137.42). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Suzy Frelinghuysen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Composition in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 552,500.00 (€ 487,944.89).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Evening Grosbeaks Set Record von Suzy Frelinghuysen im Mai 2017 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 23.750,00 (€ 21.137,42) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Suzy Frelinghuysen erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Composition im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 552.500,00 (€ 487.944,89).
