Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2013 Sothebys in London held the auction Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art, which included the work Young Applicant by Sudhir Patwardhan. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 21,250.00 (€ 24,802.56) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sudhir Patwardhan - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Tree, which sold at auction in March 2016 for USD 100,000.00 (€ 87,796.31).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2013 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Young Applicant von Sudhir Patwardhan zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 21.250,00 (€ 24.802,56) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Sudhir Patwardhan mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Tree beobachtet, die im März 2016 für USD 100.000,00 (€ 87.796,31) versteigert wurde.
