Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art, which included the work Untitled (Sakhubai) by Sudhir Patwardhan. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,930.00 (€ 8,210.18) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sudhir Patwardhan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tree in March 2016 with an auction result of USD 100,000.00 (€ 87,796.31).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Sakhubai) von Sudhir Patwardhan zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 6.930,00 (€ 8.210,18) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sudhir Patwardhan erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tree im März 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 100.000,00 (€ 87.796,31).
