Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Landscape, Bass Rocks by Stuart Davis was sold in the Modern & Contemporary Prints & Multiples auction at Bonhams in New York in May last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 4,462.50 (€ 4,158.51) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Stuart Davis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Rue Lipp in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 6,847,200.00 (€ 6,047,160.65).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Landscape, Bass Rocks von Stuart Davis wurde im Mai letzten Jahres in der Auktion Modern & Contemporary Prints & Multiples bei Bonhams in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 4.462,50 (€ 4.158,51) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Stuart Davis erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Rue Lipp im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 6.847.200,00 (€ 6.047.160,65).
