Auction result well in line with expectations
In April this year Christies in New York held the auction Modern American Masterworks from the Ted Shen Collection, which included the work Wharf by Stuart Davis. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 600,000.00 – 800,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 630,000.00 (€ 570,652.17) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Stuart Davis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Rue Lipp in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 6,847,200.00 (€ 6,047,160.65).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Modern American Masterworks from the Ted Shen Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Wharf von Stuart Davis zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 600.000,00 – 800.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 630.000,00 (€ 570.652,17) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Stuart Davis erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Rue Lipp im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 6.847.200,00 (€ 6.047.160,65).
