Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2020 a collector was able to acquire the work Death by Water by Stanley William Hayter for GBP 573.75 (€ 640.93). This price was achieved in the auction Prints & MultiplesPart I: (Lots 1-250) Part II: The Arthur N. Gilbert Collection of Important Prints by James Gillray (1756-1815)(Lots 251-363) at Bonhams in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Stanley William Hayter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Spring in March 2016 with an auction result of USD 115,000.00 (€ 100,965.76).
