In June this year Phillips in London held the auction 20th Century to Now, which included this untitled work by Stanley Whitney. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 40,640.00 (€ 47,297.96), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Stanley Whitney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Radical Openness in May last year with an auction result of USD 2,228,000.00 (€ 2,076,227.75).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 35 % übertroffen
Im Juni diesen Jahres führte Phillips in London die Auktion 20th Century to Now durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Stanley Whitney zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 40.640,00 (€ 47.297,96) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Stanley Whitney erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Radical Openness im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.228.000,00 (€ 2.076.227,75).
