In the Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art auction, the work Wounds - 43 sold for GBP 20,160.00 (€ 23,884.16) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 7,000.00. Admittedly, works by Somnath Hore have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Draupadi and Shakuni in September 2017 with an auction result of USD 118,750.00 (€ 100,524.85).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Somnath Hore erzielte im Oktober 2021 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art wurde die Arbeit Wounds - 43 für GBP 20.160,00 (€ 23.884,16) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 7.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Somnath Hore auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Draupadi and Shakuni im September 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 118.750,00 (€ 100.524,85).
