This artwork by Gertrude Morgan achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in January this year. In the Outsider and Vernacular Art auction, the work Untitled (Getting Late in the Evening) sold for USD 27,720.00 (€ 25,529.56) - well above the upper estimate of USD 10,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gertrude Morgan - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Precious Lord, 1970-1975, which sold at auction in January 2017 for USD 68,750.00 (€ 63,692.79).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Gertrude Morgan erzielte im Januar diesen Jahres bei Christies einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Outsider and Vernacular Art wurde die Arbeit Untitled (Getting Late in the Evening) für USD 27.720,00 (€ 25.529,56) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 10.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Gertrude Morgan mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Precious Lord, 1970-1975 beobachtet, die im Januar 2017 für USD 68.750,00 (€ 63.692,79) versteigert wurde.
