This artwork by Gertrude Morgan achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in February last year. In the Outsider Art auction, the work Self-Portrait with New Jerusalem, double sided, circa 1968 sold for USD 12,500.00 (€ 11,136.85) - well above the upper estimate of USD 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by Gertrude Morgan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Precious Lord, 1970-1975 in January 2017 with an auction result of USD 68,750.00 (€ 63,692.79).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Gertrude Morgan erzielte im Februar letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Outsider Art wurde die Arbeit Self-Portrait with New Jerusalem, double sided, circa 1968 für USD 12.500,00 (€ 11.136,85) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 5.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gertrude Morgan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Precious Lord, 1970-1975 im Januar 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 68.750,00 (€ 63.692,79).
