In January this year Christies held the auction Outsider and Vernacular Art, which included the work Untitled (Airplane) by Gertrude Morgan. The »bidding war« ended at USD 10,710.00 (€ 9,863.69), 34% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Gertrude Morgan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Precious Lord, 1970-1975 in January 2017 with an auction result of USD 68,750.00 (€ 63,692.79).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 34 % übertroffen
Im Januar diesen Jahres führte Christies die Auktion Outsider and Vernacular Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Airplane) von Gertrude Morgan zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 10.710,00 (€ 9.863,69) und damit 34% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gertrude Morgan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Precious Lord, 1970-1975 im Januar 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 68.750,00 (€ 63.692,79).
