The work The Marquess of Wellington Jug by Sir William Nicholson was sold in the Modern British & Irish Art Evening Sale auction at Christies in London in October last year. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 277,200.00 (€ 322,934.93), 54% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sir William Nicholson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sunflowers, which sold at auction in March this year for GBP 756,000.00 (€ 860,096.03).

Die Arbeit The Marquess of Wellington Jug von Sir William Nicholson wurde im Oktober letzten Jahres in der Auktion Modern British & Irish Art Evening Sale bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 277.200,00 (€ 322.934,93) und damit 54% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Sir William Nicholson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Sunflowers beobachtet, die im März diesen Jahres für GBP 756.000,00 (€ 860.096,03) versteigert wurde.
