The price achieved of GBP 1,057.50 (€ 1,728.44) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Admittedly, works by William John Newton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Captain Thomas Boteler In Gold-Bordered Naval Uniform With White Facings And Gold Epaulettes in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 7,800.00 (€ 11,583.24).
