The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 150.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 480.00 (€ 706.51). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William John Newton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Captain Thomas Boteler In Gold-Bordered Naval Uniform With White Facings And Gold Epaulettes in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 7,800.00 (€ 11,583.24).
