Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Unknown by William John Newton was sold in the Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu, Silver and Plate and Icons auction at Christies in London in September 2006. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 500.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 504.00 (€ 743.51). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William John Newton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Captain Thomas Boteler In Gold-Bordered Naval Uniform With White Facings And Gold Epaulettes in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 7,800.00 (€ 11,583.24).
