Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2013 Christies in London held the auction A Life's Devotion: The Collection of the Late Mrs T.S. Eliot, which included the work A Young Gentleman Called John Keats (1795-1821), In Fur-Trimmed Green Cloak, Blue Jacket, White Shirt And Black Neck Tie by William Charles Ross. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,910.94) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by William Charles Ross have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Victoria, Princess Royal (1840-1901) As A Child, Holding The Long Blue Silk Ribbons Of Her Hat, In White Dress, Black Coat, Wearing A Blue-Lined Straw Hat Adorned With Black And Blue Ribbons On Her Curly Fair Hair; Landscape Background in November 2013 with an auction result of GBP 18,750.00 (€ 22
