Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A lady seated in a red upholstered chair with her hands folded, facing right in white dress, black lace shawl draped over her shoulders, elaborate white bonnet with bows by William Charles Ross was sold in the Important Gold Boxes,Objects of Vertu & Portrait Miniatures auction at Christies in London in December 2003. The price achieved of GBP 717.00 (€ 1,015.54) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 600.00 – 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Charles Ross achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Victoria, Princess Royal (1840-1901) As A Child, Holding The Long Blue Silk Ribbons Of Her Hat, In White Dress, Black Coat, Wearing A Blue-Lined Straw Hat Adorned With Black And Blue Ribbons On Her Curly Fair Hair; Landscape Background in November 2013 with an auction result of GBP 18,750.00 (€ 22,563.12).

Die Arbeit A lady seated in a red upholstered chair with her hands folded, facing right in white dress, black lace shawl draped over her shoulders, elaborate white bonnet with bows von William Charles Ross wurde im Dezember 2003 in der Auktion Important Gold Boxes,Objects of Vertu & Portrait Miniatures bei Christies in London versteigert. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Victoria, Princess Royal (1840-1901) As A Child, Holding The Long Blue Silk Ribbons Of Her Hat, In White Dress, Black Coat, Wearing A Blue-Lined Straw Hat Adorned With Black And Blue Ribbons On Her Curly Fair Hair; Landscape Background im November 2013 mit einem Auk
