Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2021 Christies in London held the auction Old Masters Evening Sale, which included the work Portrait of Elizabeth Blake, Lady Wallscourt (1805-1877), three-quarter-length, playing a guitar by Thomas Lawrence. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 400,000.00 – 600,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 450,000.00 (€ 527,718.31) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Thomas Lawrence have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Arthur Wellesley, 1St Duke of Wellington, K.G., K.B., M.P. (1769-1852), Bust-Length, In Civilian Clothes With A Military Cloak, Wearing The Insignia of The Order of The Golden Fleece in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 2,080,000.00 (€ 3,088,865.09).
(1769-1852), Bust-Length, In Civilian Clothes With A Military Cloak, Wearing The Insignia of The Order of The Golden Fleece im November 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.080.000,00 (€ 3.088.865,09).
