Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Mrs. Hart Davis, half length, in a white gown with a gold sash and a black velvet hat by Thomas Lawrence was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 40,320.00 (€ 35,961.47) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Lawrence achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Arthur Wellesley, 1St Duke of Wellington, K.G., K.B., M.P. (1769-1852), Bust-Length, In Civilian Clothes With A Military Cloak, Wearing The Insignia of The Order of The Golden Fleece in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 2,080,000.00 (€ 3,088,865.09).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of Mrs. Hart Davis, half length, in a white gown with a gold sash and a black velvet hat von Thomas Lawrence kam im Januar letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. (1769-1852), Bust-Length, In Civilian Clothes With A Military Cloak, Wearing The Insignia of The Order of The Golden Fleece im November 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.080.000,00 (€ 3.088.865,09).
