In January 2024 Christies in New York held the auction Old Masters, which included the work Portrait of William Baker, (1743-1824), three-quarter-length seated, in a red dress coat, with a landscape beyond by Thomas Lawrence. The »bidding war« ended at USD 604,800.00 (€ 528,578.92), 51% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Thomas Lawrence have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Arthur Wellesley, 1St Duke of Wellington, K.G., K.B., M.P. (1769-1852), Bust-Length, In Civilian Clothes With A Military Cloak, Wearing The Insignia of The Order of The Golden Fleece in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 2,080,000.00 (€ 3,088,865.09).

Im Januar 2024 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Masters durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of William Baker, (1743-1824), three-quarter-length seated, in a red dress coat, with a landscape beyond von Thomas Lawrence zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 604.800,00 (€ 528.578,92) und damit 51% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thomas Lawrence auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of Arthur Wellesley, 1St Duke of Wellington, K.G., K.B., M.P. (1769-1852), Bust-Length, In Civilian Clothes With A Military Cloak, Wearing The Insignia of The Order of The Golden Fleece im November 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.080.000,00 (€ 3.088.865,09).
