In June 2005 Christies in London held the auction MARITIME PICTURES AND WATERCOLOURS, which included the work H.M.S. Royal Albert Aground Off The Aegean Island of Zea, 29Th December, 1855 by Oswald Walters Brierly. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 780.00 (€ 1,156.01), 56% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Oswald Walters Brierly achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work East Boyd, Twofold Bay, New South Wales in November 2001 with an auction result of AUD 25,850.00 (€ 15,014.24).

Im Juni 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion MARITIME PICTURES AND WATERCOLOURS durch, in der auch die Arbeit H.M.S. Royal Albert Aground Off The Aegean Island of Zea, 29Th December, 1855 von Oswald Walters Brierly zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 780,00 (€ 1.156,01) und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Oswald Walters Brierly erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit East Boyd, Twofold Bay, New South Wales im November 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 25.850,00 (€ 15.014,24).
