Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Oswald Walters Brierly could be acquired at Sothebys in London in November 2008 for an unexpectedly low price. In the A GREAT BRITISH COLLECTION: The pictures collected by Sir David and Lady Scott, sold to benefit the Finnis Scott Foundation auction, the work Brigs Racing Round The Fleet changed hands for GBP 375.00 (€ 453.40) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Oswald Walters Brierly achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work East Boyd, Twofold Bay, New South Wales in November 2001 with an auction result of AUD 25,850.00 (€ 15,014.24).
In der Auktion A GREAT BRITISH COLLECTION: The pictures collected by Sir David and Lady Scott, sold to benefit the Finnis Scott Foundation wechselte die Arbeit Brigs Racing Round The Fleet für GBP 375,00 (€ 453,40) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00.
