The work H.M.S. Rattlesnake off an archipelago (illustrated); and H.M.S. Rattlesnake at anchor off an island by Oswald Walters Brierly was worth GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,091.88) to a buyer in July 2009. This price was achieved in the auction Christie's Interiors at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Oswald Walters Brierly - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work East Boyd, Twofold Bay, New South Wales, which sold at auction in November 2001 for AUD 25,850.00 (€ 15,014.24).
