Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Shaming of Mr Noaks by Osbert Lancaster was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2002. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 646.25 (€ 1,056.45) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Osbert Lancaster have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Washed Out in March 2001 with an auction result of GBP 3,055.00 (€ 4,929.55).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Shaming of Mr Noaks von Osbert Lancaster kam im März 2002 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 600,00 – 800,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 646,25 (€ 1.056,45) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Osbert Lancaster auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Washed Out im März 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.055,00 (€ 4.929,55).
