Auction result well in line with expectations
The work 'It is my duty to tell you, Monsignor Canteloupe, that there is a widespread feeling in the Club that your attitude toward umbrellas is too ecumenical by half!' by Osbert Lancaster was sold in the Christie's Interiors auction at Christies in London in December 2010. The price achieved of GBP 400.00 (€ 464.00) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Osbert Lancaster achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Washed Out in March 2001 with an auction result of GBP 3,055.00 (€ 4,929.55).
