This artwork by Osbert Lancaster achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2001. In the 20TH CENTURY BRITISH ART auction, the work The Professor sold for GBP 1,410.00 (€ 2,275.18) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Osbert Lancaster - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Washed Out, which sold at auction in March 2001 for GBP 3,055.00 (€ 4,929.55).

Für andere Arbeiten von Osbert Lancaster mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Washed Out beobachtet, die im März 2001 für GBP 3.055,00 (€ 4.929,55) versteigert wurde.
