This price was achieved in the auction 20TH CENTURY BRITISH ART at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 800.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Osbert Lancaster; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Washed Out sold at auction in March 2001 with the realized price of GBP 3,055.00 (€ 4,929.55).
