Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Important British Paintings, which included the work Portrait Of Thomas Tooke (1810-1857) As A Boy by Martin Archer Shee. It changed hands for a price of GBP 7,500.00 (€ 9,480.25) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by Martin Archer Shee have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of A Lady, Full-Length, In A White Dress With A Yellow Silk Sash, An Artist'S Palette And Neo-Classical Bust On A Table To Her Left, An Erard Harp On Her Right, And A Classical Greek Urn To Her Left And An Engraving In Her Left Hand in June 2001 with an auction result of GBP 35,250.00 (€ 58,557.26).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2008 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Important British Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of Thomas Tooke (1810-1857) As A Boy von Martin Archer Shee zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 7.500,00 (€ 9.480,25) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Martin Archer Shee auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait Of A Lady, Full-Length, In A White Dress With A Yellow Silk Sash, An Artist'S Palette And Neo-Classical Bust On A Table To Her Left, An Erard Harp On Her Right, And A Classical Greek Urn To Her Left And An Engraving In Her Left Hand im Juni 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 35.250,00 (€ 58.557,26).
