Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2011 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait Of Sir Richard Hardinge by Martin Archer Shee for USD 7,500.00 (€ 5,468.47). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & 19th Century European Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Martin Archer Shee achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of A Lady, Full-Length, In A White Dress With A Yellow Silk Sash, An Artist'S Palette And Neo-Classical Bust On A Table To Her Left, An Erard Harp On Her Right, And A Classical Greek Urn To Her Left And An Engraving In Her Left Hand in June 2001 with an auction result of GBP 35,250.00 (€ 58,557.26).
