Auction result misses estimated price range
In October last year a collector was able to acquire the work Lady Gwendeline Spencer-Churchill In The Merchant Of Venice by John Lavery for GBP 44,100.00 (€ 51,376.01). This price was achieved in the auction Churchill to Eden: The Collection of the Earl and Countess of Avon at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 50,000.00 – 80,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Lavery achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Terrace, Cap d'Ail in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 1,162,500.00 (€ 1,363,272.29).
