The work A Lady In Black (Lady Gwendeline Spencer-Churchill) by John Lavery was sold in the Churchill to Eden: The Collection of the Earl and Countess of Avon auction at Christies in London in October last year. The price achieved of GBP 18,900.00 (€ 22,018.29) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Lavery achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Terrace, Cap d'Ail in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 1,162,500.00 (€ 1,363,272.29).
