Upper estimate price exceeded by 42 %.
The work Study for St Patrick's Purgatory, Lough Derg by John Lavery was sold in the Irish Art auction at Sothebys in London in November 2021. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 113,400.00 (€ 133,142.27), 42% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Lavery achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Terrace, Cap d'Ail in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 1,162,500.00 (€ 1,363,272.29).
