Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Miss Davison by John Everett Millais was auctioned at Christies in London in July last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 32,760.00 (€ 39,121.26) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Everett Millais achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sisters in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 2,301,875.00 (€ 2,630,293.40).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of Miss Davison von John Everett Millais kam im Juli letzten Jahres bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 32.760,00 (€ 39.121,26) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Everett Millais erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sisters im Juli 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.301.875,00 (€ 2.630.293,40).
