Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Charles Bridgeman, half-length, seated by James Thornhill was sold in the BRITISH ART ON PAPER auction at Christies in London in June 2003. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,912.00 (€ 2,747.65) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Thornhill achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Proposed Design For The Saloon Ceiling At Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire: The Apotheosis of Hercules in June 2005 with an auction result of GBP 45,600.00 (€ 67,582.08).

Die Arbeit Portrait of Charles Bridgeman, half-length, seated von James Thornhill wurde im Juni 2003 in der Auktion BRITISH ART ON PAPER bei Christies in London versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 1.912,00 (€ 2.747,65) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00.
