Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2006 Christies in London held the auction British Art on Paper, which included the work 'Be Not Affrighted' by James Thornhill. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 1,560.00 (€ 2,316.65). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Thornhill achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Proposed Design For The Saloon Ceiling At Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire: The Apotheosis of Hercules in June 2005 with an auction result of GBP 45,600.00 (€ 67,582.08).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im November 2006 führte Christies in London die Auktion British Art on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit 'Be Not Affrighted' von James Thornhill zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 1.500,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 1.560,00 (€ 2.316,65) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Thornhill erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Proposed Design For The Saloon Ceiling At Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire: The Apotheosis of Hercules im Juni 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 45.600,00 (€ 67.582,08).
