Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sir Andrew Agnew, 7th Bart. by Henry Raeburn was sold in the The Scottish Sale auction at Bonhams in Edinburgh in October 2020. The price achieved of GBP 11,312.50 (€ 12,561.57) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henry Raeburn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Sir Evan Murray-MacGregor of MacGregor, 2nd Bt., K.C.B., K.C.H., 19th Chief of Clan Gregor, as a boy (1785-1841), full-length, in tartan, in a landscape in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 458,500.00 (€ 578,312.66).
