Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2017 Sothebys in London held the auction Two Great Scottish Collections: Property from the Forbeses of Pitsligo and the Marquesses of Lothian, which included the work Portrait Of Sir John Belsches Wishart, Later Stuart, 3Rd Bt. (1752-1821), Half-Length, Wearing A Black Coat With A White Stock by Henry Raeburn. It changed hands for a price of GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,789.26) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henry Raeburn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Sir Evan Murray-MacGregor of MacGregor, 2nd Bt., K.C.B., K.C.H., 19th Chief of Clan Gregor, as a boy (1785-1841), full-length, in tartan, in a landscape in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 458,500.00 (€ 578,312.66).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2017 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Two Great Scottish Collections: Property from the Forbeses of Pitsligo and the Marquesses of Lothian durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of Sir John Belsches Wishart, Later Stuart, 3Rd Bt. (1752-1821), Half-Length, Wearing A Black Coat With A White Stock von Henry Raeburn zur Versteigerung kam.
