Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2018 Christies in London held the auction Old Masters Day Sale, which included the work Double portrait of Mrs. Graham Young and her child, three-quarter-length by Henry Raeburn. It changed hands for a price of GBP 18,750.00 (€ 20,889.16) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henry Raeburn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Sir Evan Murray-MacGregor of MacGregor, 2nd Bt., K.C.B., K.C.H., 19th Chief of Clan Gregor, as a boy (1785-1841), full-length, in tartan, in a landscape in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 458,500.00 (€ 578,312.66).
