Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Reclining Nude, The Artist'S Wife Jane by Gerald Kelly was sold in the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction at Sothebys in London in December 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 35,000.00 (€ 38,993.10) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gerald Kelly - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Glass of Sherry in the Studio, Portrait of W. Somerset Maugham, which sold at auction in November 2020 for GBP 94,000.00 (€ 104,935.72).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Reclining Nude, The Artist'S Wife Jane von Gerald Kelly wurde im Dezember 2018 in der Auktion Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 35.000,00 (€ 38.993,10) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Gerald Kelly mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A Glass of Sherry in the Studio, Portrait of W.
