Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Gerald Kelly achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in December 2021. In the European & British Art auction, the work The Sphinx sold for GBP 40,320.00 (€ 48,093.30) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 20,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gerald Kelly - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Glass of Sherry in the Studio, Portrait of W. Somerset Maugham, which sold at auction in November 2020 for GBP 94,000.00 (€ 104,935.72).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Gerald Kelly erzielte im Dezember 2021 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion European & British Art wurde die Arbeit The Sphinx für GBP 40.320,00 (€ 48.093,30) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 20.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Gerald Kelly mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A Glass of Sherry in the Studio, Portrait of W. Somerset Maugham beobachtet, die im November 2020 für GBP 94.000,00 (€ 104.935,72) versteigert wurde.
