In November 2012 Christies in London held the auction Christie's Interiors - Style & Spirit Including Collection of a Nobleman Part I, which included the work The Messenger, a tragic gesture by Gerald Kelly. The result of GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,847.85) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gerald Kelly achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Glass of Sherry in the Studio, Portrait of W. Somerset Maugham in November 2020 with an auction result of GBP 94,000.00 (€ 104,935.72).

Im November 2012 führte Christies in London die Auktion Christie's Interiors - Style & Spirit Including Collection of a Nobleman Part I durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Messenger, a tragic gesture von Gerald Kelly zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 1.500,00 (€ 1.847,85) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gerald Kelly erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Glass of Sherry in the Studio, Portrait of W. Somerset Maugham im November 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 94.000,00 (€ 104.935,72).
