Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2008 Christies in London held the auction Scottish ArtThe Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh, which included the work Portrait of Louisa Madeleine Keith-Falconer, née Hawkins (1828-1916), Countess of Kintore, full-length, in a white dress by Francis Grant. The price achieved of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 31,866.03) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Francis Grant have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Daisy Grant, The Artist'S Daughter, Full Length, Wearing A Black Dress, Red Petticoat, Black Shawl, Hat And Boots, And Grey Gloves In A Winter Landscape in June 2001 with an auction result of GBP 174,250.00 (€ 289,463.92).
