Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In September this year Bonhams in New York held the auction 19th Century and British Impressionist Art, which included the work A highland shepherd by Edwin Henry Landseer. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 2,176.00 (€ 2,176.00). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edwin Henry Landseer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'Scene in Chillingham Park: Portrait of Lord Ossulston', or 'Death of the Wild Bull' in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 1,271,650.00 (€ 1,856,568.89).
