Auction result well in line with expectations
In March last year Christies in London held the auction Dramas of Light and Land: The Martyn Gregory Collection of British Art, which included the work A study of the terrier Zippin by Edwin Henry Landseer. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,500.00 – 4,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,528.00 (€ 4,182.84) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edwin Henry Landseer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'Scene in Chillingham Park: Portrait of Lord Ossulston', or 'Death of the Wild Bull' in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 1,271,650.00 (€ 1,856,568.89).
