Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2021 Christies in London held the auction British and European Art, which included the work The Sandal by Edward John Poynter. The price achieved of GBP 37,500.00 (€ 43,976.53) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward John Poynter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Orpheus and Eurydice in December 2020 with an auction result of GBP 437,500.00 (€ 488,726.49).
