Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Christmas Roses by Edward John Poynter was auctioned at Christies in September 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,072.30) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward John Poynter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Orpheus and Eurydice in December 2020 with an auction result of GBP 437,500.00 (€ 488,726.49).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Christmas Roses von Edward John Poynter kam im September 2021 bei Christies zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.500,00 (€ 4.072,30) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edward John Poynter erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Orpheus and Eurydice im Dezember 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 437.500,00 (€ 488.726,49).
