Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Perseus and Andromeda; Nausicaa and Her Maidens Playing at Ball; Atalanta's Race by Edward John Poynter was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 250,000.00 – 350,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 239,400.00 (€ 285,886.12). Other works by Edward John Poynter have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in December 2020 by the work Orpheus and Eurydice at GBP 437,500.00 (€ 488,726.49).

Als die Arbeit Perseus and Andromeda; Nausicaa and Her Maidens Playing at Ball; Atalanta's Race von Edward John Poynter im Juli letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus.
