Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Winter Cherries by Edward John Poynter was sold in the An Aesthetic Odyssey: The Peter Rose and Albert Gallichan Collection auction at Christies in September 2021. The price achieved of GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,526.69) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward John Poynter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Orpheus and Eurydice in December 2020 with an auction result of GBP 437,500.00 (€ 488,726.49).
